If you’ve listened to the previous episode, you know that you should be doing the things you want to do, and not the things you think you should do.

We do a lot of things not to please ourselves, but because we are hardwired to want to please other people. This leads to overwhelm, because we’re afraid to let people down, and we don’t wanna deal with those negative emotions.

So how do we cope with this overwhelm? We overeat, or we overdrink.

And as women we are socialized to give, to nurture, and to put everyone else's comfort level above our own.

It is virtuous, selfless, and generous.... or so we are told.

Saying yes to everybody, means that we’re saying no to the most important person in our lives… ourselves.

That’s why in today’s episode, I cover over-obligation and pleasing people, and how to cut these out of our lives. You’ll hear me talk about:

  • The reasons you want to please other people.

  • How the way we are hardwired to interact with others backfires on our personal lives.

  • How to establish healthy boundaries with other people.

  • Ways in which you can take ownership of everything happening in your life.

  • The importance of elevating your awareness of how you’re trying to appease other people.

Over-obligation breeds deep resentment, dissatisfaction, overeating, and so many other things that harm us. Trying to make everyone happy, leads to you being the one that is miserable. Break the cycle, take control.

Take care of yourself first, and when you’ve done that, you can also take care of others.
