We Go First

Changing the Trajectory for the Next Generation of Girls — One Woman at a Time

We Go First exists for one reason:

To change the trajectory of the next generation of girls.

And we do that by starting with women.

Because confidence, self-image, and self-leadership are not just things we teach girls.

They are things girls learn by watching us.

The Problem is Clear

Girls are navigating a world that constantly tells them who they should be.

Girls are facing:

• Pressure from social media

• Comparison and self-doubt

• Challenges in friendships and relationships

• Confusion about identity and self-worth

In 2017, I (Lia) founded Strong Girls Soar while working as an educator in public schools, creating programs to help girls build confidence, leadership skills, and emotional resilience.

And while that work made a difference, something became clear.

We cannot change the next generation of girls by focusing on girls alone.

Because girls don’t become who we tell them to be.

They become what they see modeled and normalized.

The Missing Piece

At the same time, I was working with women in my private coaching practice — helping them navigate disempowered behaviors, often showing up in their relationship with food.

What I saw was not a lack of discipline or willpower.

It was a lack of:

  1. Self-Confidence

  2. Self-Respect

  3. Self-Leadership

  4. Self-Trust

Women who had spent years disconnected from themselves were trying to raise confident girls, yet no one had ever taught them how to lead themselves first.

Why “We Go First”

For decades, we’ve told girls:

✔️ Be confident.
✔️ Speak up.
✔️ Know your worth.
✔️ Set boundaries.

But telling girls what to do has never been enough.

Because confidence doesn’t come from being told to be it.

It must be authentically modeled.

So if we want to raise confident girls…

We must go first.

We become the women who:

• trust ourselves
• set standards
• make aligned decisions
• take up space
• live with courage

Because when women embody confidence, girls inherit it.

Meet the founder

Lia Pinelli is the founder of We Go First, a movement building a new standard of confidence—where women embody it, and girls inherit it.

Through her work, she helps women raise their standards, strengthen their self-image, and boldly lead themselves—changing the trajectory of the next generation, one woman at a time.

She is a certified yoga teacher and former public school educator, with experience as both a classroom teacher and administrator. Bilingual in English and Spanish, her work is both research- and evidence-based, blending mindfulness, identity work, and practical tools to support deep, lasting transformation.

Lia is also the host of The Life You Crave, a podcast exploring the intersection of women, food, and power. Her work has been featured in Shout Out SoCal, San Diego Voyager, and numerous podcasts, and she has served as a keynote speaker at the Strong Girls, Strong Women Conference of Silicon Valley.

A graduate of Stanford University and UC Berkeley, Lia now lives in Buffalo, New York, where she spends her time outdoors with her rescue dog Taco, her gentle giant of a husband, and their mouthy (but lovable) son.

The Truth That Drives Everything

Confident women raise confident girls.

And if we want that future for them…

We go first.

Whether you are a woman ready to become more self-led, or a parent who wants to support your daughter’s confidence, you are in the right place.
