If you’re one of those people whose tendency to overindulge skyrocketed since the pandemic started, don’t despair. You’re not alone. We all deal with this stress in different ways. Some of us take comfort in food to cope with it, others turn to drinking, or lash out at their loved ones. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s part of being human.

Our brains are wired to steer us towards seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. We want to feel good. But, overeating (or overdrinking, for that matter) is a behavior that isn’t healthy in the long run, no matter how good we feel when we surrender to it. We succumb to these urges to avoid pain. But, the pain we’ll feel after a longer period of doing this will be much larger than the one we try to avoid.

If there’s one thing that almost always happens when we overeat, it’s that we feel worse after. And then we feel guilty and demean ourselves before we do it all over again. This doesn’t mean we’re powerless and can’t take action. It’s a vicious cycle, but we can break it.

That is why you want to listen to today’s episode. You’ll learn:

  • Why anxiety is not the reason you’re overeating.

  • Why relying on your willpower to break the pattern of overindulging is not sustainable in the long run.

  • The truth about why your brain is making you overindulge in food or drinks.

  • The (uncomfortable) strategy that will lead you towards transformation and stop being a slave to your urges.

If there’s one takeaway from today’s show, it’s that you’re not broken, and you’re able to change. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you.

Truly accepting this will bring you peace of mind greater than any guilty pleasures you’ve been lately enjoying.
