If you exercise strictly to lose weight, you’re doing it wrong. I see this all the time, and I’m sure you do too. Gyms are packed around New Year’s, and a month or so after. But then, the crowd inside the gym tapers off.
This is because working out should be an activity you enjoy and would do regardless of what the scale shows. Not because you feel guilty that you’ve gained all that weight during the holidays.
In truth, exercising is not the most effective way to lose weight. Heck, it might be one of the worst, if you do it for the wrong reasons. Sure, it can help you shed some pounds, but at what cost?
All that time spent on the rowing machine or the treadmill can make you miserable. But you’ve done the deed, and now you feel like you deserve a reward. So you treat yourself with something sweet.
It’s OK to do this occasionally, but if you exercise just so you can eat your favorite foods, then this episode is for you.
You’ll learn:
The problem with exercise and why it isn’t essential for weight loss.
How exercise can even sabotage your weight loss goals.
How to give up exercise and still lose weight.
How to choose the best types of exercise for you.
The real benefits of exercise and how it can support your mental and physical health.
The attitude that you should adopt towards exercise that won’t make you feel guilty when you miss a workout.
Exercise can be a fun and enjoyable activity, and it should be. You will be reinvigorated after a good workout session, but you shouldn’t do it just to lose weight.
Do it to feel better, and you’ll see what it does for your growth, both physical and spiritual.
