Feeling like a failure can come from lots of places. From work, from your relationships, from your eating habits.
When you screw up, big or small, you feel like shit. And that feeling oozes out of your pores and infects everything that you do, affects every relationship you have. It influences the thoughts that appear in your brain.
And those thoughts then are behind the subsequent actions. When those actions come from a place of self-loathing and self-hate, they bring all sorts of unhappiness for you and your loved ones.
But, you can choose another way. You can choose to not feel like a failure, whether or not you failed AT something. It’s that distinction I want to bring home in today’s episode.
When you have thoughts of failure, you often identify yourself as someone who fails. It’s infinitely better to think of those experiences as learning events. It’s not that you are a failure, but maybe you didn’t do what you set out to do.
You didn’t achieve one of your goals. So what? Are you gonna mop around and quit? No, you’re not. You’re going to learn, and do better next time.
And if you feel like a failure every time you do something “bad”, you need to listen to today’s show.
You’ll hear me talk about:
How feeling like a failure negatively impacts every area of your life.
How to reframe your thinking to make you get the results you want.
Why anxiety is the enemy to your progress, and to learning.
How to investigate the feelings you have that bring you down, without judgment.
Why learning is more important than winning.
When you see the feelings you have for what they are, you’ll come to understand why they appear. In time, your behavior will follow.
