Self-sabotage is the number one barrier to achieving your weight loss goals. Think about it. When you slip up on your diet, you’re often beating yourself up, blaming yourself for failing.
How would you treat a loved one, or a child, if they slip up in a similar way? Probably with compassion and love. So why not give yourself the same approach?
Compassion and empathy are important for our everyday lives. It’s what binds us together with our loved ones. But, they’re especially important in difficult situations, where we’re quick to pull the trigger and unleash anger towards ourselves.
The “beat yourself up” approach is what prevents you from getting back on the train when you slip up on your diet. It’s what sabotages your relationships. It’s what enticing you to go for another drink, another brownie, until you feel bad about yourself, and restart the vicious cycle of overeating and overdrinking.
If you find yourself in what you read above, you’ll want to listen to this episode, in which I go over:
Why beating ourselves up prevents us from achieving our goals.
How to prevent the vicious cycle of self-sabotage.
Why you don’t need willpower and discipline to stop this vicious cycle.
The one area in which you need to intervene to stop the patterns of negative thinking.
How mindfulness and meditation may help you on your weight loss journey.
Put an end to the vicious cycle, put an end to the self-sabotage.
