I noticed in my own life that as my level of responsibility increased-- career, kids, saving money, making adult decisions-- my level of pleasure decreased. And I'm not down for that.
On this episode of The Life You Crave we do a deep dive on pleasure, REAL versus false pleasure, because this concept has been KEY in ending my own habit of overeating and has actually increased the level of pleasure I get in my life.
False pleasure is everywhere. It’s not just food we’re talking about. It could be watching TV, or spending hours on social media. You need to take stock of the things that spike your dopamine, keep a watchful eye of when you do them. More importantly, you want to know why you’re doing them.
There’s an easy way to tell if something in your life brings you false pleasure, or REAL pleasure.
And I talk all about that in today’s episode, in which you’ll learn:
The difference between false and real pleasure.
Habits that bring you benefits in the long run, versus those that give you a quick dopamine hit.
Tips on how to identify real pleasure vs false pleasure in your life.
Why you need to stop treating food as your supreme source of pleasure.
Net negative vs net positive actions and how you can make the right choices on a daily basis.
If you implement these steps, you’ll see how easy it is to identify the sources of short term pleasures (aka dopamine hits) in your life, vs those that bring you joy and satisfaction that never fades.
