When we’re trying to lose weight, we often associate the “trying” part with suffering. We’re too hard on ourselves, we starve, and we feel constantly depleted.

The funny part is, we know the recipe for success. We know what we have to do to lose weight. And still, when we make a mistake, we feel like a failure. Often, we even give up as soon as it becomes uncomfortable.

And this is what I want to emphasize in today’s episode. We are hardwired to seek comfort, and avoid feeling discomfort. Because of this, we associate food with pleasure. And since we evolved to seek pleasure, we seek food to comfort us when negative feelings appear.

When it becomes hard to follow through on our plan, a bit of discipline goes a long way. You have the power to stop in your steps and ask yourself if you really want to regress to the beginning.
