Ep 12: How Self-Soothing is F*#%ing with Your Goals

When you embark on your weight loss journey, sometimes you’ll encounter obstacles. You won’t feel great every time you’ll need to get up for that 6 am run. You won’t feel like eating that salad after a hard day at work.
And you should sometimes allow yourself some slack. But, you can’t do it every time. Think about how you got addicted to those cookies, or those large glasses of wine.
You’re working towards getting rid of those habits, or at least changing your relationship with them.
It’s OK to skip that exercise once in a while, but be mindful when that becomes a recurring theme. Do it long enough, and you’ll find yourself where you started off. And it will be harder next time, and harder, and harder.
The most dangerous outcome is that you will start losing trust in yourself. Seeing yourself slip up time after time will make you think all sorts of bad things about your personality.
It’s a slippery slope, and easy to lose yourself in it. I don’t want that for you, you don’t want that for you.

Too much self-discipline, and you’ll start hating the process. Too much slack, and you’ll lose confidence that you can achieve your goals.
